The Michelin-starred pub restaurant, at South Dalton, near Beverley, was last year’s County Dining Pub of the Year for Yorkshire.
The Pipe and Glass is run by licensees and owners Kate and James Mackenzie. Kate, who runs front of house at the Pipe and Glass, said: “We were thrilled to be named County Dining Pub of the Year for 2014 – to take the national title for 2015 is just amazing!”
Chef James said: “We’ve always wanted the Pipe and Glass to be a great local pub that also serves fantastic food. This award shows that we’re achieving both aims. There are some fantastic pubs in the UK, and we’re delighted to bring this award to Yorkshire.”
The Good Pub Guide is a national institution – a bible for pub-goers. Now in its 33rd edition, it’s the UK’s No 1 bestselling guide. With regular feedback from over 2,000 loyal and eagle-eyed correspondents who look for real warmth and quality of service, it is the pub-goers’ recommendations, backed up by editor inspections, that determine who’s in and who’s out year on year.
The Good Pub Guide 2015 (Ebury Press, £15.99) features over 5,000 pubs with friendly and informative descriptions. Organised county by county, each section highlights Main Entries that have been fully inspected and carefully selected to warrant their place. These are followed by a number of shorter Worth A Visit descriptions where outstanding pubs are clearly starred. This year The Good Pub Guide welcomes 121 new entries which cater to all pub tastes but all of which share the stamp of real quality.
Its dedicated website
